MSU Homecoming Parade 2009

Congratulations to the 2009 Homecoming parade winners:

  • Best Float - Student Greenhouse Project
  • Best Banner - Shaw Hall Senate
  • Best Group - MSU Solar Car Racing Team
  • Best Spartan Spirit -Student Alumni Foundation
  • Best Residence Hall Entry - Wilson, Wonders, Holden, Case Hall Complex

Please note – New parade route this year! The parade will begin at 6 p.m. October 16 and will feature the Spartan Marching Band, MSU Alumni Marching Band, MSU cheerleaders, MSU student organizations, Greek sororities and fraternities, East Lansing community groups, high school bands and much more.

Staging for the parade begins at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Abbott and Burcham roads in East Lansing. The Homecoming Committee encourages parade participants to focus parade entries around the theme “We've Always Been Green” by carrying signs or posters promoting environmentally green initiatives and by using recycled materials to build floats. Check back for guidelines on how to make your entry environmentally “Green.”

Registered Student Organizations will be eligible to receive parade awards in the following categories: best float, best banner, best group, best Spartan spirit and best residence hall.  Entries will be judged based on the theme focus and the use of environmentally green materials.

Parade route

Please note – New parade route this year: The parade will begin at the intersection of Abbott Road and Burcham Drive at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, will travel south on Abbott Road, east on Grand River, south at Collingwood, south on Farm Lane and conclude at the corner of Farm and Shaw Lanes.
